So BIG

Much to my chagrin, Gabe is no longer my itty-bitty baby of the past. He is getting BIG; he's growing, learning and changing pretty much before our eyes. One of the ways Gabe is growing is he is now too BIG for his bouncy chair and eats all of his meals in his high chair!

And as well as eating in his high chair, Gabe has started 'drinking' from a cup. He's not really sure how to manipulate the cup but every once in a while, his hands, mouth and cup all work in the right way and Gabe gets a mouthful of water. Which he promptly spits out!

Although I'm sad Gabe is getting so big, I am beyond belief ecstatic that he's progressing just the way God wants him to be!

7 Months

Usually on the 18th of every month I write about where Gabe is now... and right now Gabe is sitting in my lap wanting to cuddle. So instead of typing a post of how wonderful Gabe is, how much we love him and how blessed we are... I'm going to change Gabe's diaper and then cuddle with him before he goes to bed. Spending time loving my little man and being in awe and wonderment of how blessed we are to have him!

Couldn't you just eat him up?

6 Month Well Visit.... Gabe's 1st Shot

At 19lbs 9oz and 28 inches long, some would say baby Gabe is no longer my little baby. But I disagree until, well, until he's too big for me to hold in one arm or has a little sibling added to the family he will be my little baby... and I'm pretty sure, to his dad's chagrin, he'll always be my baby. He, he!
Gabe before his 6 month well baby check up! Yes, he is that cute! And, no I can't hardly take his cuteness either!

Gabe also had his 1st shot. I know, I know he's 6 months old and is just getting his first shot. Due to his schizencephaly and its accompanying predisposition for seizures and seizures being one of the more common side effects along with way too much research we've chosen to delay most and forgo some of the regularly scheduled vaccines. We're not really anti-vaccine, we're more like vaccine delayers combined with personal opinions of what we feel is best for Gabe. We feel, as parents it is our job to figure out what is in the best interest of our son and after reading lots of books, talking to experts and doing a lot of indpendant research we formed our educated (to us) opinions. But mostly, I'd just say we're pro-Gabe!
Gabe after his 1st shot ever :(
He cried for about 35 seconds, and gave me a look of utter distrust. It broke my heart how he was looking at me like, "why did you let that lady do that to me?" But he was back home and ready to play in a matter of moments. See?
Boy am I glad he doesn't hold grudges.... because he's too cute for me to not want to smother with hugs and kisses all day long!

What I Want for Gabe

After reading this post here, I've decided that's what I want for Gabe, or actually what I don't want. Even though I love his smile, his happiness is not what's most important to us. Being happy is not our goal for Gabe, our wishes for him are here. So take a few minutes to read this and know, while I didn't write it, it's how I feel in my heart.

And in case all the hyperlinks above didn't catch your attention, click here on "Why I don't want Gabe to be happy."

And stay tuned for more bits and pieces of different things God is laying on our hearts; as parents, friends and Christ followers.

Aye Aye Matey Part II

Remember this post when I first showed you adorable pictures of Gabe in his patches? Well, yes he was adorable, but the patches, ehh... not so much! So when we were running low and the doctor confirmed we'd have to keep patching, we decided boring beige was just not what the doctor ordered for Gabe. So we surfed on over to Ortopad and ordered Gabe some of these patches:
Much cuter and stylish and seem to fit's Gabe's personality perfectly. I can't decide which one I like best so I just try to have them match his clothes. Except when he wears his pirate shirt, then the obvious choice is the yellow patch with the pirate theme!
Gabe knows what to do when he sees the camera.
Pretending to be a sleep... He does this so I'll take off his patch. The second
I take off his patch, he opens his eye and smiles. What a stinker!

Blowing bubbles at the camera! Sometimes he gets tired of it being in his face...

And finally giving a really good smile.

Could he be any cuter? I don't think so!
