Bead for Life: here and there

Saturday (March 16) is our 4th annual Bead for Life.  I say "our" because so many women have come together each March to serve women in Uganda by purchasing hand-crafted beaded jewelry that I can't just take the credit for how successful this annual March out of Poverty party has become.

From the Bead for Life website:
"Our mission is to create sustainable opportunities for women to lift their families out of extreme poverty by connecting people worldwide in a circle of exchange that enriches everyone."

Bead for life teams with women in Kampala and Iganga Uganda to help work their way out of poverty.  The beads these women create turn into beautiful jewelry.  This beautiful jewelry turns into food, shelter, medicine and school fees.  It provides hope; hope for these women to better the lives of themselves and their families and for once, taste life outside of poverty.

This years Bead for Life party has a little twist!  While we are shopping to help empower women in Uganda we are also going to help women in North East Ohio.  During the Bead for Life party, we will be collecting diapers (Size 4 and up) to donate to Laura's Home - the only homeless shelter in the Cleveland area for women and children.  They are in need of diapers for the children there and we are going to step forward and help a bit.  Of course there's incentive as well, for each pack of diapers you bring you will be entered into a contest to win a piece of jewelry of your choice from Bead for Life.  Bring a friend with you to the party and you get another entry into the drawing!

So come on over Saturday from 2-5 for a good cause, good food and to meet good friends!
